World Malaria Day, an annual observance held on April 25 to raise awareness about the global effort to control and eventually eradicate malaria. World Malaria Day, first organized in 2008, evolved from Africa Malaria Day, an event that has been observed by African governments since 2001. The time served to assess progress towards goals aimed at controlling malaria and reducing its mortality in African countries. In 2007, at the 60th session of the World Health Assembly (a meeting sponsored by the World Health Organization [WHO]), it was proposed that Africa Malaria Day be recognized as World Malaria Day to recognize the existence of malaria in countries around the world. Be changed to bring greater awareness to the global fight against the disease.
What is MALARIA?
Malaria is caused by Plasmodium parasite, which is spread by the bite of the female anopheles, known as the vector of malaria. If you live in an area where there are more mosquitoes then you should be careful. If malaria is suspected, get it checked and treated immediately. Recovery can be rapid if malaria is diagnosed early.
